...that george w. bush is a douchenozzle: (in case you needed another)
w's dastardly plan to push through the "provider conscience" rule, that could enable healthcare workers to refuse to participate in anything they object to on moral grounds, continues. the l.a. times is saying that the rule could have wider-reaching consequences than previously thought. it goes way beyond abortion, the paper notes: "it could reach disputes over contraception, sperm donations and end-of-life care." the times also offers four examples of women being refused treatment that had devastating results.
"In calling for limits on “conscientious refusals,” [the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology] cited four recent examples. In Texas, a pharmacist rejected a rape victim's prescription for emergency contraception. In Virginia, a 42-year-old mother of two became pregnant after being refused emergency contraception. In California, a physician refused to perform artificial insemination for a lesbian couple. (In August, the California Supreme Court ruled that this refusal amounted to illegal discrimination based on sexual orientation.) And in Nebraska, a 19-year-old with a life-threatening embolism was refused an early abortion at a religiously affiliated hospital.[READ MORE via latimes]

I love it when my doctor makes decisions based on his/her personal opinion rather than my health (both mental and physical). That is just the icing on the cake of the mess that is our health care system
LET'S JUST HOPE THAT HE DOESN'T ACTUALLY GET TO INCLUDE THIS IN HIS LAST ROUND OF F*CKUPS BEFORE HE FADES EVEN FURTHER INTO OBLIVION...
why would you not just go to another doctor....by the way doctors refuse care and help all the time, this is nothing new. Just like most business you can refuse service to anyone you choose to. Not saying that it is always right but why is the health care industry. most of the time with these situations the doctors are upfront about the fact that they will not do it.
I know a doctor that would have refused care to Blythe because I didnt breast feed Blythe, guess what? I didnt go to him.
AND WHEN SOMEONE LIVES IN A WHACKJOB STATE LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, MISSISSIPPI, WHERE NO ONE THINKS THAT ABORTIONS ARE OK, WHAT SHOULD THE PREGNANT TEEN THAT NEEDS AN ABORTION DO??? THATS HOW PEOPLE END UP BLEEDING TO DEATH AFTER THEIR (IN)SIGNIFICANT OTHER CHOPS THE FETUS OUT OF THEIR STOMACH WITH A STEAKNIFE. ABORTION WAS LEGALIZED TO MAKE IT SAFE WHEN IT IS INDEED NECESSARY.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PERFORM MEDICAL PROCEDURES THAT YOU DON'T LIKE, THEN DON'T BECOME A DOCTOR.
I DON'T LIKE COOKING LIVER AND ONIONS, DOES THAT MEAN THAT I CAN REFUSE TO COOK IT WHEN YOU ORDER IT? NO.
THANK YOU, HAVE A NICE DAY.
If you owned your own business you would never have to cook it...unless you wanted to. And if I wanted to eat it, I wouldnt got to your place.
Unless the doctors work for the state or government, in that case I think they absolutly should have to preform whatever they are told to. If it is private practice then no...pick a doctor who will do it.
And making it legal to make it safe is bad excuse for aboriton. I dont know where I stand on this issue to be honest but I know that isnt the good reason to make it legal.
You should make drugs legal so that people dont use dirty needles and get bad diseases in some back alley because they cant get them legally. You do see my point a little dont you?
a little.
